Anthropic’s Claude Duet is a background agent for working professionals

Anthropic has introduced Claude Duet, an app aimed at professionals and small businesses. It builds daily briefings and dashboards, tracks ongoing work and suggests next steps. Tasks run on their own virtual machine in the background, and the app asks before acting. It runs on Claude Opus 5.5 and links to more than 6,000 connectors in the Claude Marketplace.

Duet can buy things through wallets such as Stripe’s Link or Shopify’s Shop Pay, but only after approval. By default it refuses requests for card numbers and government ID. It is in research preview on iOS, Android and the web for Pro and Max subscribers, and access is by waitlist.

Always-on agents are now the main battleground between the big AI labs. For Indian developers, that means growing demand for people who can build connectors, plug-ins and approval workflows around agents. Freshers can get an edge by learning how agent integrations and permission controls work, not just how to prompt a chatbot.
