Google Cloud adds OpenAI’s GPT-6 models to its Model Garden in private preview

TShekhar Suman · 27 Oct 2026

Google Cloud announced that GPT-6 Astra, GPT-6.1 Sol and GPT-6 Luna are rolling out in private preview in its Model Garden, with more models to follow. Astra targets demanding work in coding, computer use and research. Sol offers near-Astra capability at lower cost, and Luna is a fast, cheaper model for everyday tasks at scale.

Access is limited to select enterprise customers. Billing runs through Google Cloud Marketplace and can draw down existing Google Cloud commitments. Zero data retention and confidential compute options are listed as coming soon. The post gives no pricing or general availability date. Developers can also connect their local Codex CLI and desktop workflows to Google’s platform.

Many Indian IT services and product firms already standardise on Google Cloud. Having rival models in one platform reduces vendor lock-in and procurement work. Engineers who can compare models, route workloads and manage cloud costs across providers will be increasingly useful.
